My family
I’ve been married to TJ Torres since December of 2008, and we have two amazing children, Sara and Isaiah.
My story
The summer after I turned 7, while living with my grandma, I started going to church regularly for the first time in my life. Within a few months, I experienced the conviction that I NEEDED to accept Jesus as my Lord. I responded obediently and was baptized a few months later. I didn’t know where to go from there, though. I grew up in a tiny country church, doing what I thought a good Christian should do, which unfortunately led me to be quite legalistic.
In college, I found myself surrounded with other young believers who wanted to know Jesus and who wanted to follow Him. This led me to work on the relationship side of my walk (instead of just following the rules), and my life changed drastically. I had the opportunity to go on several mission trips during college, and then to serve as a missionary after college for a few years.
Over the years, I have served at non-profits and churches in volunteer positions while raising and homeschooling our children. Recently, God began calling me up to the new challenge of leading in the student ministry which has led me to the honor of being on staff at CyLife. Each day is a new opportunity to press into Him as I serve and love those around me.
