What is baptism?
Baptism is the next step after a person has repented of their sin and accepted Christ as their Savior. Baptism literally means “to be immersed” and we at CyLife Church honor our role in obedience to Christ through the physical act of baptism in water by immersion. In Immersion, Jesus gave His followers a beautiful and dramatic way of identifying with Him by being buried and raised up out of the water!
- Baptism represents a burial of the old way of life and mindset.
- Baptism is not a prerequisite to salvation.
- Baptism doesn’t get you to heaven... it announces to your friends you are headed to heaven.
As Paul wrote in Romans 6:4, “We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Matthew 28:19
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
Acts 2:38
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 6:4
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
